Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed to conduct mobile court again to ensure the use of masks for protection against coronavirus.
Cabinet secretary Khondoker Anwarul Islam made the remarks at a short press briefing at the secretariat after the cabinet meeting on Monday (October 19).
Earlier, a virtual cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Prime Minister attended the virtual meeting from Ganobhaban and other members of the cabinet attended from the secretariat.
Cabinet secretary Khondoker Anwarul Islam said special discussions were held on corona in today's meeting. Regarding Covid-19 we are looking at the situation everywhere, looking at the international report. Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated during this time, especially in America and Europe. That is why the Prime Minister has been talking in meetings and rallies for last several days. Paying special attention there let us all be a little careful. Particularly the work we are doing on our behalf should make us all use masks, the rest is uncertain. If we all use masks automatically, our chances of getting infected are greatly reduced. Either way people need to be made more aware.
The cabinet secretary said there is a sense of relaxation among many. In any case, people should not come without masks in public places, mosques or gatherings, Durga Puja that will come soon. It will further force them. The Prime Minister and the Cabinet have expressed the firm hope that everyone will become aware and at least pay more attention to the use of masks. Then automatically we get a release from it. Our main thing is that everyone should use a mask.
He added, “Yesterday there was a commissioner’s conference where we gave clear instructions. We have asked the Islamic Foundation to ask the Imams to call from all mosques at least once a day, after the Zuhr and Maghrib prayers, in the mic or directly when the congregation held. And every mosque, market or other public gathering should have a slogan that no one should enter without a mask. It will be a request to everyone.
He said the commissioners have been instructed about the mobile court to ensure the use of masks. Make sure to use masks to make people aware, motivate or force as much as possible. If the law is to be enforced, so be it.
