Govt. revises potato price

Dhaka: Government has revised the price of potatoes per kg in retail from Tk.30 to Tk. 35. The price was fixed at a meeting of the Agricultural Marketing Directorate at Khamar Bari on Tuesday (October 20).

The meeting has revised to Tk. 27 per kg at cold storage level, Tk. 30 per kg at the wholesale level and Tk. 35 per kg at retail level.At this time, representatives of the Ministry of Commerce, Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission and The National Consumer Rights Protection Authority were present at the meeting of the Director General of the Department of Agriculture Marketing, Mohammad Yousuf.

Besides, the President of Bangladesh ColdStorage Association, Karwan Bazar potato wholesellers and the traders of Shyambazar were present at the meeting.Earlier, on October 7, the agricultural marketing directorate had fixed the price of potatoes at Tk. 23 cold storage and Tk. 25 at the wholesale level and Tk. 30 at consumer level. A letter was also sent to the DCs to confirm the price. But potato related traderu objected to the price.
