The international community has announced about 600 million dollars funding for the Rohingya issue.

Donor countries pledged the money at a virtual conference on the Rohingya issue jointly hosted by the United States, the United Kingdom, the EU and UNHCR on Thursday (October 22).

The conference was organized to raise funds for the Rohingyas. The United States has announced an additional 200 million dollars as humanitarian assistance for the Rohingya. US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made the announcement in a statement.

On the other hand, the United Kingdom today announced 47.5 million pound in new aid to the Rohingya. Foreign Minister Dominic Raab announced the assistance in an announcement.

The United Nations has asked the international community for 1 billion this year for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

EU Commissioner Janice Lin said the Rohingya crisis was a humanitarian catastrophe that needed international assistance. There is no alternative to implementing the recommendations of the Rakhine Advisory Commission, headed by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, to find a lasting solution to the crisis. The Rohingya crisis must be kept active so that the international community does not forget it. The EU Commissioner has announced 97 million Euros in aid for the Rohingya humanitarian crisis this year.

The Malaysian delegate to the conference said the situation for the Rohingya in Rakhine had not changed much since 2016. The longer this crisis lasts, the more complex it will become. Resolving the issue of Rohingya citizenship is most important in resolving the crisis.

Noting that Myanmar is being pressured by ASEAN to resolve the Rohingya crisis, the Indonesian envoy said the international community must focus on resolving the source of the crisis. Describing the Rakhine situation as "complex", the Thai envoy said the problem had created a difficult situation for Bangladesh. However, time is needed to resolve the crisis. You have to be patient for this. Once the Corona situation is under control, repatriation needs to be initiated.

This problem must be solved through dialogue. ASEAN is trying to play a role in this. Representatives of various UN agencies, non-governmental organizations and the World Bank spoke at the conference.
