Today is the last day of Durgotsab. Mahanabami was celebrated on Sunday through various rituals. Today is Monday (October 26) Happy Vijaya Dashami. Today, the biggest religious festival of the followers of Sanatan religion will end with the immersion of idols.

Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Bengali Hindu community, started on October 22 through Chandipath, Bodhan and Devi's abode. This time the goddess has come on the cradle, will go riding on elephant.

This time the religious rituals are shortened to avoid infection of corona. The Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council has termed this year's Durgotsab only as 'Durga Puja' as it should be limited to Sattik Puja by avoiding the festivities related to the Puja observance.

Today, Monday (October 26) at 8:45 am, the tenth day of the worship of Sri Sri Devi idol - Niranjan and water of peace will be provided. After the dedication of the mirror, the devotion of Goddess Durga and other deities will be given in the afternoon. Through this the goddess will leave mortal and return to heaven.

This time the idol will not be immersed through the procession in Durga Puja. Although many people go together in a truck for immersion, this time 10 people can go in a truck for immersing the idol. It has been instructed not to go beyond this.

Today is a public holiday on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami. On the occasion of Durga Puja festival President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina sent messages. On the occasion of the Vijoya Dashami, Bangladesh Betar, Bangladesh Television and other private TV channels and radios will broadcast special programs. Besides, national dailies will publish special articles on the occasion.

According to the Bangladesh Puja Celebration Council, Durga Puja was held in 30,223 mandapas across the country this year. Last year, the number of Durga Puja mandapas across the country was 31,398. Compared to last year, the number of puja mandaps is one 1165 less this time. On the other hand, there are 233 puja mandapas in Dhaka city this year. Last year the number was 237. And in Dhaka district worship is done at 740 mandapas.
