During the Corona period, Bangladesh has the highest growth rate among all the countries in Asia. Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of a month-long exhibition of paintings titled 'Art Against Corona' at the National Art Gallery of the Shilpakala Academy on Tuesday (October 28th) told this.
Dr. Momen said that when the World Bank and the IMF projected that the GDP growth of any country in the world would not be more than 1.38 to 3.38 percent, then the growth of Bangladesh was 5.2 percent. It is an unimaginable success. Corona also proved that we are a nation of heroes.
The foreign minister said friendly countries were requested to provide food and medical treatment to Bangladeshi expatriates in the Corona pandemic. They have kept our word. Money was sent to foreign missions in Bangladesh to help expatriate Bangladeshis. The Ministry of Disaster and Relief has made special arrangements to help the families of the expatriate Bangladeshis.
Dr. Momen said, "After the cancellation of orders in the garment sector of Bangladesh in different countries, 40 percent of the canceled orders have been recovered through our efforts. In this regard, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has talked to the Heads of State of different countries so that they do not ruin our supply chain. Currently the ready-made garment industry is doing better than other times; more than 3 billion dollars worth goods are being exported every month.
Meanwhile, the foreign minister called upon all to abide by the health rules in the face of the second wave of corona.
State Minister for Culture KM Khalid, Secretary for ministry of Culture Badrul Arefin and eminent painter Jamal Ahemd were the special guests in the inaugural function presided over by Liaquat Ali Lucky, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
