Tofail Ahmed, a member of the Awami League's advisory council, said there are many leaders in the world, there are many people who do not die. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu did not die; he is and will remain forever. He said, "On the day we gave a public reception to Bangabandhu in 1969, he said with blood, you have freed me from prison with life, if I can, one day I will repay the debt of that blood with my own blood." He did not give blood alone; he paid the blood debt of the Bengali nation with the blood of his family. So on the birth centenary I want to say - Father of the Nation, this nation will never forget you.
Tuesday (November 10) evening, Tofail Ahmed said this while participating in the general discussion on the proposal brought on Bangabandhu in the special session on the occasion of Bangabandhu's birth centenary in the Jatiyo Sangsad (JS) chaired by Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.
Tofail Ahmed said, Bangabandhu said in his speech that he went to many people with 6 points but no one supported him. Then he started with the poem of the poet ‘If no one comes to hear your call, then walk alone’, saying this, he had started his speech. Bangabandhu said that Awami League is a party of workers; Awami League is not a party of any leader. If we, workers are united, we will implement 6 points one day. No one can stand in my way. He held 32 public rallies in 35 days on 6 points and was arrested 8 times.
He said Bangabandhu had said from jail, "They will not be able to hang us. Our trial will begin. The people of Bengal will roar, wake up, one day they will release me." There will be an election in this country, I will win the election, they will not give us power and the grave of Pakistan will be built on the same day,’ said emotion choked Tofail Ahmed.
Bangabandhu, a leader who spent his youth in a Pakistani prison, stood on the gallows and embraced death, was awarded the title of Bangabandhu by me on behalf of the Bengali nation with gratitude. Bangabandhu had said many times that I did not come to be the Prime Minister, I came to establish the rights of the people of Bengal. Bangabandhu said in Suhrawardy Udyan that he did not want the prime ministership, he did not want the prime ministership for a long time.
Tofail Ahmed said that Bangabandhu's affection for Bengali language was understood in many of his speeches. Many leaders will come to this world, but leaders like Father of the Nation Bangabandhu will not come. He used to raise the little ones. He has made the leader of the union the leader of the police station, the leader of the police station the leader of the district and the leader of the district the national leader. Our four national leaders were district leaders, he made them national leaders. You can measure the depth of the sea, you can measure but you cannot measure the depth of Bangabandhu's love for the people of Bengal.
He further said that today his worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is taking Bangabandhu's dream Bangladesh forward.
