Dhaka: Police have recovered the hanging bodies of father Khairul Islam Sohag, 55 and son Shahriar Islam Arin, 14 from a house in Nayatola area of the capital's Moghbazar.
Two bodies were recovered from a five-storey house in Nayatola on Wednesday (November 11) evening. The bodies have been sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital for autopsy.
The victim's wife Nazmun Nahar Nupur has filed a case of unnatural death. Hatirjheel police inspector (investigation) Mohammad Golam Azam confirmed the incident.
According to police, Khairul Islam used to live with his wife Nazmun Nahar Nupur and son Arin on the fifth floor of a building next to the Nayatola RAB office in Moghbazar. Khairul Islam, a road contractor by profession, had been suffering from mental problems for several years. His son Arin was disabled. Khairul's village home is in Ramganj upazila of Laxmipur. They used to live in that house in Nayatola of Mogbazar. Khairul's wife Nazmun Nahar went to market at the time of the incident. She came from the market and found the door closed and informed the police. Police came and recovered their hanging bodies from the fan.
According to the police, Khairul committed suicide after killing his son. However, the exact cause of death will be known after receiving the autopsy report.
