Dhaka: Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam said, if Bangabandhu had survived, we could have achieved a developed Bangladesh in 2000. But Bangabandhu is not there. He was brutally killed, shocked the conscience of all humanity. Then for a long time the aspirations of the people of the country were not fulfilled by forming different forces and teams. In the absence of Bangabandhu, until his daughter Sheikh Hasina came to power, we became famous all over the world as a nation of beggars. After Bangabandhu, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has improved the economic condition of the country.

Minister was speaking in the special JS session chaired by Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury in connection with MujibBorsho in the on Wednesday(Nov.11) evening.

Tajul Islam said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was a huge name and overcame all obstacles in his short life and made his own place as a highly respected man in the world.

He said Bangabandhu has united the people by organizing them for the realization of human rights. Bangabandhu has spent innumerable precious time in jail throughout his life. Struggled, made a movement. Bangabandhu never hesitated to move forward. Many political parties in the country asked not to participate in the 1970 elections. Bangabandhu took part in the elections on that day because of his genuine love for the people, respect for the law and respect for democracy.

The Local Government minister said that on January 10, 1972, Bangabandhu suddenly returned. The Bengali nation seemed to have achieved a new victory. On the first day of this session, I was overwhelmed to hear Bangabandhu's speech on January 10, I have listened to it piece by piece for so long, Leader Bangabandhu was a courageous man. Relying on God, he called on everyone to move forward with what we have. He showed us the dream, started the journey.

It is very sad to say that when Bangabandhu started working for the betterment of our destiny, a group went against Bangabandhu. The group formed the East Pakistan Committee in London and set up an office there. Here they tried to hinder Bangabandhu's progress in Bangladesh by connecting with the anti-independence movement and those who organized the students by forming new political parties at that time, tried to spread confusion, tried to obstruct. He formed Doha Bahini, Toha Bahini, Proletarian Party and Siraj Sikder Bahini and made the life of the people of Bangladesh miserable. He started collecting money and calling by telephone. The foreign conspiracy started anew. Bangabandhu countered all those conspiracies and started working to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people of Bengal.

He further said that the dream of a developed Bangladesh is being shown under the leadership of the Prime Minister by 2041. I think if Bangabandhu had survived I could have achieved a better Bangladesh in 2000. But Bangabandhu is not there. He was brutally killed.

He further said that Bangladesh under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter is no longer a country of beggars. Today we are dreaming of a developed country. I have the opportunity to be promoted to Qatar, a developing country. This journey will continue. The conspiracy is still going on, there will be a conspiracy and everyone has the combined strength to deal with that conspiracy. During his rule, Bangabandhu called upon all to unite, to unite, to deal with any situation in a united manner. Bangabandhu Union Parishad has abolished the panchayat system. The Union Council has made a model there as the key to development. The Prime Minister is emphasizing that model. Bangabandhu spoke of cooperatives. I am trying to implement Bangabandhu's ideal.
