Laksmipur: On November 12, 1970 the coast of south Bangladesh mostly of Bhola and Laksmipue were hit by a powerful cyclone. It was a Thursday. About 50,000 people died in Ramgati-Kamalnagar in the middle of the night, when the water level of 3-10 feet was high.
 
The day is 50 years old. Today is November 12, it is that Thursday. Every year, the witnesses and rescuers still stand up for the day. The stoical remembers the memory and weeps.The coast is aland in the cyclone.
 
According to relatives, there was not enough radio in the coastal areas in 1970. However, the day of the incident, the number 10 great danger signal was announced on the radio. But no one knew. Some of the people who had radio sat down didn't believe it. 
 
And it rained in the morning. Light winds start in the evening. The cyclone and the storm hit the people when they fell asleep in the night. The coast was flooded with storms and high tidal bores.
 
Sources said that the Bhola cyclone had hit the Bhola district at 240 km/h on the night of November 12, 1970. The cyclone hit the Meghna and Vulua river coasts of the district of Laksmipur at a speed of 185 km. 
 
Thousands of people and cattle have been swept away by the water. About 50,000 people died in the coastal region of Meghna in the flood snow of that day. 
 
According to official estimates, the cyclone killed 500,000 people. However, according to various ngos, about 10 lakh people died that day.People were seen seeking shelter in the cyclone.The cyclone is reportedly the biggest in the country's history. Only bodies and bodies can be seen around the day. Due to pungent  smell of the dead could not reach the man. The dead people could not be buried due to the 3-10 feet of water. It took about 23 days to bury the bodies of the dead in Ramgati-Kamalnagar. 15-20 people were buried in the same hole. The rescuers buried the bodies in a very difficult way.Meanwhile, journalist, Rafiqul Islam, known as The Coast Friend, is working to mark the day as The Coast Day. Since 2017, the Coast Guard has been celebrating the day in half a century. However, witnesses of the Bhola cyclone are demanding that it be officially observed as a day mourning.
