Paying tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib, BNP MP Harunur Rashid said, it is really difficult for me to speak. I have no hesitation in saying that the value and dignity of national leaders must be given. It is natural that there will be many errors in our life. It is normal to have mistakes in running a country.

He said, if there is a debate about who is the announcer of independence and who is not, can Sheikh Mujib be made big or small? If we can get rid of the controversy from this place, I don't think we should bring this kind of controversy here. Has independence been achieved in the meantime? There is no way to deny the long struggle of Sheikh Mujib for the rights of the people of this country, no one denies it and it cannot be done.

On Thursday (November 12) evening, he said this while participating in a special discussion on the proposals brought on Bangabandhu in a special session chaired by Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury on the occasion of Bangabandhu's birth centenary.

Harunur Rashid said, I can't say where to start. I would like to start my speech from an article written by the mother of the Hon'ble Prime Minister. He started his speech by reading an article written by Bangamata published in the Dainik Bangla on March 26, 1972.

"Bangabandhu was arrested on the night of March 25 and the inhumane Pakistani rulers in Bangladesh carried out indiscriminate genocide. I strongly condemn the genocide," he said.

The BNP MP said, I was born in the sixties. I was a primary school student during the liberation war. When Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib was assassinated on 15 August 1975, I was in class eight. I was then a student of Rajshahi University School. Here the senior leaders are constantly reminiscing about Bangabandhu's biography, I think it was necessary.

“But I want to make one thing clear,” he said. Bangabandhu's decision on March 25, 1971 was correct. If he had fled, if he had taken refuge in India, the Pakistani rulers in the international world would have said he was a separatist leader. He wants to separate Bangladesh from Pakistan. What he understood was that if he fled from Bangladesh, he could be killed. He was the elected leader of the majority of the people at that time. The Pakistanis did not give him power. That is why the liberation war of 1971 started. That was his right decision.

The BNP MP said, the Prime Minister has said here that if there is a debate on who was the announcer of independence and who is not, can Sheikh Mujib be made big or small? If we can get rid of the controversy from this place, I don't think we should bring this kind of controversy here.

Elaborating on the President's speech, Harunur Rashid said that no matter how much the political ideology was inconsistent; Bangabandhu would not say anything sarcastically to the Leader of the Opposition. Rather than speak with due respect to them, political etiquette was a notable feature of his life. Bangabandhu did not taunt, criticize or ridicule the leaders of the opposition, but he loved, respected and respected them, as we can see from his various writings.

He said, we have organized a year-long event on the birth centenary of Bangabandhu to spread the message that Bangladesh is not isolated from the global crisis. We are also facing a crisis. Besides, on the occasion of Mujib Year, we should have taken steps to repair the state. There is no way to deny that corruption has taken an institutional shape. Rape is rampant in Bangladesh today. Not only this, there is a great lack of good governance. Bangladesh's democratic system should have been repaired this year. I am looking at that image; I am looking at the dilapidated state. Is it conceivable? In today's politics, the most mischievous deception, corruption, looting people's money cannot be called politics. Political leaders must have deep knowledge. Only when there is an extreme desire to have a sense of responsibility towards the people can we go to our place.

He further said that the President in his speech was asking to institutionalize democracy. Political parties need to build a culture of tolerance and mutual respect. This was mentioned by the President in his speech. Today we have to consider that these places have been ruined, ruined. How to get these places back is very important in Mujib Year. We will discuss the biography of Bangabandhu as well as have a plan on how to ensure its implementation.
