DNA tests have found evidence of four men being involved in rape after picking up a student at Murarichand College (MC) in Sylhet. Police said the rest helped in the rape.The four involved are Saifur Rahman, Tarekul Islam Tarek, Shah Mahbubur Rahman, A.K. Roni and Arjun Laskar.
The spokesperson of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner BM Ashraf Ullah confirmed that the report of DNA tests was handed over to the police. He said the confession of the accused in the court was the main progress of the investigation.
The DNA test was waiting for the chargesheet to be filed. The DNA test report has been received recently. The work that is going on now is the preparation of filing a chargesheet in the court.
It may be mentioned here that a young woman was gang raped by some students at MC College hostel on the evening of September 25.
The husband of the woman with Shahparan police filed a case against the nine men in this connection.
