Gold price drops again

Dhaka: Bangladesh Jewelers Association has decided to reduce the price of gold in the country's market by one more point. The new rates will be effective across the country from Wednesday(December 2).

The Bangladesh Jewelers Association said this in a press release on Tuesday (December 1) at around 10 pm.

According to the decision, this time the price is reduced to Tk.1 thousand 17 per tola. It will cost Tk. 72,006 to buy a good quality ornament of 22 carats. Besides, 21 carat 69 thousand 518 rupees, 18 carat 60 thousand 69 rupees. Traditional gold ornaments will be sold for 50 thousand 448 rupees.

However, the jewelers' association did not bring any change in the price of silver. The price of good quality silver per tola is Tk. 1 thousand 518.

21 carat silver ornaments are being sold at one thousand 435 rupees, 18 carat silver is being sold at one thousand 225 rupees. And the traditional method of silver jewelry is being sold at 933 rupees.

Gold prices had been rising since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Although it has increased a few times, it has also decreased a few times.

After the US election, the gold market was not stable due to uncertainty.

It may be mentioned that the Jewelers' Association increased the price of gold by Tk. 5,625 on June 23, Tk. 2,918 on July 24 and Tk. 4,433 on August 6 of the current year.

Then it decreased to Tk. 4,958 in two phases. Last November 25, the association reduced the price of gold by Tk. 2,506.
