Dhaka: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited three cities in India to review the vaccine innovation and production process in detail. He visited Jaidas Biotech Park in Ahmedabad, Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad and Serum Institute of India in Pune.

In two of these sites, India is developing Covid-19 vaccines domestically, and in another, crores of vaccines will be produced to save the world.

India believes that vaccination is important not only for good health but also for the welfare of the world and that India has a duty to assist other countries, including its neighbors, in the united fight against the virus. Not only is India leading the world in vaccine research, but it is also important for global vaccine production.

Meanwhile, ambassadors from 100 countries are scheduled to visit Pune on December 4. They will visit Serum Institute of India and Geneva Biopharmaceuticals Limited.

This information was given in a press release sent from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Tuesday (December 1).

Prime Minister Modi's quick decision has improved the situation in India

Prime Minister Modi's quick and proactive decision has made every effort to stop the pandemic before the catastrophe strikes the country.

India is the first country in the world to take swift action against corona infection at the governmental and institutional level.

China informed the world about the Wuhan virus on January 7. The next day, on January 8, a mission meeting was held in India. India started screening passengers from January 18. On January 30, the first coronavirus infection was detected in India.

Masks were made mandatory in early April in most parts of India. Prime Minister Modi himself has been wearing a mask since the beginning of April.

Early lockdown to prevent widespread infection

India could have waited for the lockdown and risked following the path of Europe or the United States. The growth rate of new infections rose from 10.9 to 19.6 percent in just one week, and the time to double was just three days.

No other country has taken such a decision so soon when India decided to impose a national lockdown. This one decision has changed the face of India.

Government assistance to India in the pandemic

It was also important to fight poverty while fighting the pandemic. It was necessary to make sure that this situation would not bring trouble to the poor. Immediately the Modi government took steps to help the needy.

Through the Rs. 1.70 lakh crore Prime Minister's Poor Welfare Package (PMGKP), the government announced free food grains and cash for women, poor senior citizens and farmers.

The numbers obtained by this program are captivating and set a world record! About 42 crore poor people have received financial assistance of Rs. 6,620 crore. Rs.16,791 crore was provided to about 9 crore farmers.

About Rs. 31,000 crore was transferred to women account holders in three installments. Rs. 2,614.50 crore was transferred to the elderly, widows and persons with disabilities in two installments. 1.62 crore construction workers received financial assistance of Rs. 4,98.18 crore. About 13 crore gas cylinders were distributed free of cost to poor families. About 80 crore people get free food grains and pulses on a monthly basis from November under the Poor Welfare Food Scheme.
