Authorities have suspended ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia river route to avoid accidents as the ferry's marking lights became dim in the thick fog. Four small and big ferries with passengers and vehicles are stuck in the middle of the river.
The ferry service was suspended from 12 o’clock in the night on Sunday, said BIWTC Aricha office Commercial manager Md. Salam Hossain and Daulatdia Ghat branch manager Abu Abdullah Rony.
At that time, he said, fog started falling in the river area from evening. At around 12 o'clock in the night, in the thick fog, the light of the marking lamp of the ferry became dim. Therefore, to avoid accidents, the ferry service on the Paturia Daulatdia water route was temporarily suspended.
Meanwhile, the number of vehicles waiting in both the ghat areas is increasing due to the suspension of ferry services. When the fog subsides, the ferry service will resume. After that, according to the serial, the waiting vehicles will be crossed by river, said Salam Hossain.
