The golden sun of dawn is shrouded in thick fog with the advent of winter. The sun is setting in the west shortly after 5 pm. Evening is coming down soon after twilight. Meteorologists say it's not fog, it's smog! This will continue for some more time. There may be mild winters and fog all around this week.

Air quality has started deteriorating again as fog has formed in most parts of the country, including the capital. During the last one week, most of the day and night, Dhaka ranks one to three among the major cities in the world in terms of polluted air.

The forecast for Wednesday from the Meteorological Department said the weather will remain mainly dry. There will be light to moderate fog in the riparian areas from night to dawn. Night and day temperatures across the country may remain almost unchanged.

On Tuesday (December 8), the lowest temperature in the country was 13.4 degrees Celsius in Tentulia, Panchagarh. The temperature in the capital was 18.3 degrees Celsius. Yesterday's temperature may remain the same on today.
