49the victory day celebrated in a befitting manner in Faridpur

The 49th anniversary of great victory Day was celebrated here on Wednesday (December 16) across the district through various programs with a renewed pledge to make the country prosperous and with the call to expand digitization activities to make the country developed.

The day’s program began with 31 gun salutes at local police lines along with hoisting of the national flag atop all private and public buildings. People of all ages and groups converged at the martyred memorial plaque at Goalchamat area of the town to place floral wreaths to pay homage to the martyrs.

It was followed by a unique program of a chorus of national anthem sung in thousand voices in front of the office of Deputy Commissioner (DC). DC Atul Sarkar led the chorus standing on an impromptu dias. Besides, physical presence on the site hundreds join the chorus live on facebook.

A virtual discussion meeting on health ground due to Covid-19 ‘on the advancement of digitization and overall development of the country’ chaired and moderated by DC Atul Sarkar was held later on.

ADC (Gen) Dipak Chandra Roy presented the key-note paper on the main theme in a nut-shell which narrated the struggle and the contributions of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

DC Atul Sarkar in his address to the participants said that the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been proceeding with a definite goal for achieving prosperity in a dignified manner. He said that to reach the services at the door steps of the people is 'digital Bangladesh' and the government is working in that direction. This meeting was also live on facebook.

Atul Sarkar said that the active involvement of the youth in digitization programs is very much encouraging. He said that due to their active participation the country has advanced much through various platforms including e-commerce and several on- line innovative works. A sizable number of women have become self- dependent in this district using on-line platforms, Atul disclosed.

He further said that the way our country is moving ahead we are sure that we will achieve the target of becoming a middle income country by 2021 and a developed country in 2041.

The discussion was also participated among others by Police Super Md. Alimuzzaman, Awami League president Advocate Subal Chandra Saha, newly elect of mayor of Faridpur Pourashava Amitav Bose, educationist Prof. Shahjahan, Rajendra College principal Prof. Musharraf Ali, Yasin College principal Prof. Shila Rani Mondol, Prof. Rezvi Zaman, valiant freedom fighter Abdur Rahman and Adarsha Girsl’ High school headmaster Zainul Abedin.
