Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has directed the Finance Ministry to come up with a plan for stimulus packages in the wake of second wave of Corona pandemic.
She gave the directive at the finalization meeting of the 8th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) at Ganobhaban on Wednesday (December 23) at noon. Later, Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Hasan Zahid Tushar briefed reporters.
He said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed the Ministry of Finance and other stakeholders to come up with a plan of financial incentives to tackle the second wave of Corona."
The Prime Minister looked at the plans of various ministries and departments based on the 8th Five Year Plan and gave necessary directions to the concerned. The head of government directed the Planning Commission to highlight the strategy and action plan of the Eighth Five-Year Plan separately.
The final approval of the Eighth Five Year Plan will be given at the next ECNEC meeting.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister mentioned the creation of a roadmap for the development of the country while sitting in sub-jail during the 1/11 caretaker government. Besides creating a strong domestic market, the Prime Minister also directed the concerned departments to work for the expansion of the market for their products in the regional and international arenas.
The meeting was attended by, among others Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Ahmed Kaikaus, Governor of Bangladesh Bank Fazle Kabir, Senior Secretary of the Planning Commission Asadul Islam and Abdur Rauf Talukder, Senior Secretary, Ministry of Finance.
