Vaccine inoculation to begin within week of arrival

The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, manufactured at the Serum Institute of India (SII), will arrive in Bangladesh between January 21 and 25. In the first step 50 lakh doses of Serum corona vaccine will arrive, said Director General of the Directorate of Health Prof. Dr. Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam.

He said that the inoculation will start from 7 days after the arrival of the vaccine. 50 lakh vaccines will be administered in the first phase.

Khurshid Alam said this at a press conference on Monday (January 11) afternoon at the Directorate of Health on the Coronavirus vaccine.

He said the Coronavirus vaccine, produced by the Seram Institute of India, will arrive in the country between January 21 and 25. Two days later, it will be sent to different districts from Beximco Pharmaceuticals' Ware House. The government will start online registration for the Corona vaccine program from January 26.

In the press conference it was informed that women below 18 years of age and pregnant women will not be vaccinated. Each center will have two nurses who will administer the vaccine. There will be 4 volunteers. After registration, the date and time of vaccination will be informed by SMS.

At the press conference, Additional Director General of the Directorate of Health Mirzadi Sebrina Flora said about the side effects of the vaccine as dizziness, pain and nausea may occur after vaccination. However, it is not more than 2 to 3 percent. The mobile medical team will work to prevent any side effects.

The Directorate of Health has also released a list of those who will be vaccinated against corona in the first phase in the country. According to the list, government, private and private health workers directly involved in Covid-19 healthcare will be vaccinated first. Then there are freedom fighters, law enforcers, state officials and employees, media workers and people's representatives.
