A colleague living with the family in England said, 'My mother-in-law was vaccinated with Pfizer, there are no side effects. She did not want to be vaccinated. She said, we need to give to the young without. We have lived for many days.

Such an example of love for others thought is promising. Vaccines are being vigorously administered on a priority basis based on age and occupation amid the strong corona outbreak in England. Soon all citizens, not old or young, will be vaccinated.

Vaccination is also being carried out in the United States, so that there is immigrant Bangladeshis like other citizens of that country. Some of our familiar American-Bangladeshis who have received the corona vaccine have spoken to some of them. They did not report any specific reactions to the vaccine. They did not have any significant problems except minor pain and drowsiness. With one exception, there have been no reports of any specific adverse effects of the corona vaccine in the media. Rather, people are eagerly participating in the vaccination periodically according to the set priority list.

The opposite picture of the West's encouraging picture of the vaccine is being seen in Asia, especially in South Asia or the Indian subcontinent. Research statistics have shown reluctance about vaccines among Indian people. Sixty percent of the 25,000 people surveyed in India's 262 districts are reluctant to be vaccinated.

On the other hand, according to a survey published in the Lancet magazine, 67 percent of Americans want to get the Covid vaccine. But there is also distrust about the vaccine among different sects of populations. This distrust is more prevalent among marginalized people, tribes and those living in rural areas.

When the world is looking for a vaccine to deal with corona, such apathy among people has become a cause for concern. Examining, why this reluctance and disinterest in people? Whether there is any confusion in the vaccination process is also being looked into.

The reluctance, disinterest, confusion, whatever it is, has made the decision to administer the vaccine difficult and complicated. Because, in the interest of controlling the global pandemic, the vaccine must be delivered to those people who have doubts, superstitions or misconceptions about vaccination.

Experts believe that those who do not believe in modern medicine or vaccines, culturally or religiously, need to be motivated. Moreover, those who have misconceptions about the vaccine also need to be removed.

That being said, there is confusion among people for a number of reasons. For example, due to suspicion and mistrust about the manufacturing company or country, opacity in purchasing or collecting vaccines, fear of counterfeit vaccines, low perception of the efficiency and integrity of those involved in vaccination, and individuals involved in vaccination collection and application due to the lack of trust in the ethics and reliability of the organization.

Since these problems and confusions do not exist in the developed countries of the West, the process of vaccination of corona vaccine is going on enthusiastically in those countries and the citizens are also receiving the vaccine without any hesitation. But the problem is in underdeveloped countries, where the health system is fragile, corrupt and opaque, and health care professionals are often accused of incompetent and unreliable behavior.

Vaccination has not yet started in Bangladesh. As a result, there is ample time for proper pre-preparation with learning from various experiences gained from different countries. With the vaccine that involves human life and death, the slightest reluctance or confusion in its application is extremely dangerous and suicidal.
