Three accused in a double murder case sent to gallows

A court has ordered the death sentence for all the three accused in the murder case of a mother and son in Kakrail.

Dhaka's Third Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Rabiul Alam handed down the verdict on Sunday (January 17). The accused were produced in court from jail at that time. They have been sent back to jail with sentencing warrants.

The convicts are Abdul Karim, husband of the slain Shamsunnahar, Sharmin Mukta, third wife of Karim, and Mukta's brother Al-Amin alias Johnny.
Before the verdict was announced, the court took the testimony of 17 out of 22 witnesses in the chargesheet.

On July 16, 2018, the charge sheet was filed in the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court accusing the accused. The investigation officer of the case, Ramna Police Station Inspector (unarmed) Md. Ali Hossain.

On the evening of November 1, 2017, the accused killed Shamsunnahar (45) and his son Shaon (18) by cutting their throats at the house number 79 / A in Kakrail.

Shamsunnahar's brother Ashraf Ali filed a case on November 2. The victim's husband Abdul Karim, Karim's third wife Sharmin Mukta, Mukta's brother Johnny and several other unidentified persons were accused in the case.

Abdul Karim is a businessman from Shyambazar in old Dhaka. He is an importer of Ginger-Garlic-Onion.
