Mujib Borsho gift for the landless in Faridpur: 1480 semi-pucca houses to be handed over on Saturday

In Faridpur district, 1,480 homeless people as per commitment of the Prime Minister will get houses on Saturday (January 23)in connection with ‘Mujib Borsho’. Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar informed this at a press briefing. The deputy commissioner said the genuine homeless people of 9 upazillas of the district are getting the houses promised by the Prime Minister.

DC said Under the direction of the Prime Minister's Office, 1,480 houses have been constructed in the first phase for the rehabilitation of landless and homeless people in Faridpur as well as across the country. Besides, a total of 2,035 houses are being constructed in 3 phases.

The total allocation for the construction of houses is Taka 35 crore 61 lakh 25 thousand. It is to be noted that under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Atul Sarkar, under the supervision of UNOs and AC land of nine upazillas, the dream address of homeless people is being implemented, Atul Sarkar disclosed.

He said Local MPs, chairmen of the upazilla and union parishads, various public representatives, local dignitaries and officials and employees of the field administration have played an important role in this housing project.

Atul further said that on Saturday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate this 'dreamland' across the country through a video conference. With the slogan 'Right to shelter - Sheikh Hasina's Gift', the project will have two-room houses with modern facilities for every landless family in Faridpur district.

He added that a two-room semi-detached house is being built for each family. To this end, 312 houses in Faridpur Sadar Upazila, 370 houses in Alfadanga Upazila, 192 houses in Boalmari Upazila, 168 houses in Madhukhali Upazila, 215 houses in Nagarkanda Upazila, 200 houses in Saltha Upazila, 250 houses in Bhanga Upazila, 178 houses in Sadarpur Upazila and 150 houses in Charbhadrasan Upazila. In addition to one house per family, 2 decimal of land is being given. Kabuliat and Khatian will also be handed over to the recipient, Atul Sarkar added.
