Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said Singapore's First gentleman Mohammad Abdullah Al Habashi have sent gift items for the Rohingyas in Bhasanchar. Singapore's First Gentleman made the remarks in a telephone conversation with the foreign minister on Friday (January 29).
He made the remarks as a special guest at Hotel Star Pacific in the Dargah Gate area of Sylhet metropolis at a view exchange meeting on Sylhet's development titled 'Development Progress'.
He said Singapore have extended a helping hand to the Rohingyas after taking them to Bhasanchar. 1 lakh Rohingyas will be taken in Bhasanchar today. Rohingyas will be taken to Bhasanchar for their welfare.
At the same time, the foreign minister said, all the river banks of Sylhet city will be as beautiful as other countries. The people of Sylhet are helping in this regard. Thanks to the city people for this. He said if there is a ring road, the traffic congestion in the city will be reduced.
Dr. Momen further said that a beautiful Independence Tower will be constructed in Sylhet. He said, "I see unimaginable success in the whole country because of Sheikh Hasina's government."
Dr. Momen expects Sylhet to be a special event on the occasion of the Mujib Year and the golden jubilee of independence.
The foreign minister said the country's poverty has been reduced with the development of all social norms. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina should be thanked for the development highway.
During this time, information and video images of various development activities and development plans of Sylhet City Corporation were displayed.
Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Ariful Haque Chowdhury presided over the meeting, the Minister of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Tajul Islam spoke as the chief guest. Besides, President of Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League Bir Muktijoddha Masuk Uddin Ahmed and Senior Secretary of Local Government Division Helaluddin Ahmed spoke.
Earlier, the Foreign Minister and the Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives jointly inaugurated the Sylhet Zilla Parishad Super Market. Sylhet Zilla Parishad Chairman and District Awami League President Advocate Lutfur Rahman was present at the time.
The two ministers also inspected several local government development works, including the Kadamtali Central Bus Terminal in Sylhet.
