In the first month of 2021, the expatriates sent huge amount of money again. Despite the pandemic corona, they have sent 196 crore this month, which is about Tk. 16,660 crore in Bangladeshi currency (Tk. 85 per dollar).
According to data from Bangladesh Bank, remittances from July to January of the current financial year reached 14.90 billion, which is 34.95 percent more than the previous fiscal year.
According to the central bank, in the first seven months of the current fiscal year 2020-21, from July to January, remittances totaled 1490 crore dollar which is more 386 crore dollar from the same period last year. During July-January of the last financial year, the expatriate income was 1104 crore dollar. It shows that the expatriate income has increased by 35 percent in the first six months of the current financial year.
