Myanmar's present military ruler and army chief, Min Aung Hlaing, has vowed to hold new elections and hand over power to the winning party.

He made the promise in a speech to the nation for the first time on Monday (February 8). At the same time, he accused the national elections held in November last year of fraud.

Incidentally, Min Aung made the announcement at a time when the general people of the country are moving towards a tougher movement against the military rule.

In his speech, Min Aung Hlaing said, "This year's military government is very different from the previous ones. This military government will establish true and disciplined democracy compared to the previous military rule.

It is to be noted that an army coup took place in Myanmar on the morning of February 1. The army, led by Army Chief Min Aung Hlaing, seized power by overthrowing the government of the country's elected state councilor, Aung San Suu Kyi. The military has declared a state of emergency in the country for a year. At the same time, they detained political leaders, including Aung Suu Kyi and President Win Mint.

Protests have been raging in Myanmar since the military coup. The country's military also shut down internet services after Facebook and Twitter to prevent protests from spreading anti-military propaganda . But despite that, the people of the country took to the streets against the military rule.

More than 10,000 people protested against the junta in the country's largest city, Yangon, on Monday. On the third day of the mass movement, the protesters clashed with the security forces. The situation is slowly taking a turn for the worse.

If Suu Kyi is not released and the military government does not relinquish power, people from all walks of life in Myanmar are heading for a major campaign. There was a promise of new elections under a military government to control the situation.
