According to the press release issued by the Directorate of Health, one lakh 47 thousand 155 males and 79 thousand 523 females were vaccinated on Monday. At this time, 29 people have reported adverse reaction following immunization (EFI).
As of Monday, the number of vaccinators in the ongoing mass immunization program across the country stood at 11 lakh 32 thousand 711 people. Of which seven lakh 73 thousand 724 were males and three lakh 59 thousand 87 were females. From January 27 to Sunday (February 14), 455 of them had side effects like headache, sore throat and mild fever.
On January 27, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the coronavirus vaccination program at Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka.
It is worth mentioning that apart from importing 50 lakh vaccines from India every month, Bangladesh has also got an opportunity to get vaccinated through Covax. According to the Directorate of Health, the government plans to vaccinate 80 percent of the country's population, or 13 crore 82 lakh 47 thousand 508 people, against the coronavirus. Each will be given two doses of vaccine with a gap of eight weeks.
