It has been decided to give the second dose eight weeks after the first dose of the corona vaccine, said Abul Basar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Director General of the Health Directorate (DGHD). He said the deadline for taking the second dose had been changed on Monday (February 15) on the advice of the National Advisory Committee.

The Directorate of Health changed the time of the first and second doses more than once. The Directorate of Health first had said when finalizing plans for the Covid-19 vaccine, the time difference would be four weeks. This was criticized by some public health experts. Then the time was changed to eight weeks. But before the mass immunization program began, it was said at a press conference on February 6 that the difference between the two doses would be four weeks.

More than 9 lakh people have already been vaccinated with the first dose. Now the Directorate of Health said the time difference between the first and second doses will be eight weeks.

Asked what to do with those who have already received the first dose and those who have been asked to take the second dose four weeks later, the DGHD said, "They will be notified via SMS."
