The local administration has enforced section 144 in Basurhat Pourashava area of Noakhali district.
It has been informed in an order signed by Companiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Md. Ziaul Haque Mir.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Ziaul Haque Mir confirmed the information around 11:30 pm on Sunday (February 21). He said section 144 has been enforced in Basurhat municipality area as both the feuding parties have called for a rally at the same place in Basurhat. At this time all kinds of meetings and gatherings have been banned in this area.
This information was disseminated from the Facebook account of the Companiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer around 11:30 pm on Sunday. Police have been deployed at various places including Basurhat Bazar at night.
Earlier, at a press conference on Saturday (February 20), former Upazila Chairman Mizanur Rahman Badal called for a rally at noon on Monday (February 22) at Rupali Chattar in Basurhat Bazar to protest against the lies about the Bangladesh Awami League central committee leaders. Later, Municipal Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza organized a Doa Mahfil at the same place.
