A committee has been formed to take the final decision on the cancellation of BNP’s founder and former president Ziaur Rahman's 'Bir Uttam' title.

It is learned that a three-member committee headed by JAMUKA member and MP Mosharraf Hossain was formed to take the final decision on the cancellation of the title at the 72nd meeting of JAMUKA on February 9. The other two members of the committee are- MP Shahjahan Khan and Md. Rashidul Alam.

The National Freedom Fighters Council (JAMUKA) is going to take this decision against Zia, one of the sector commanders of the liberation war, for violating the constitution, abrogating the principles of the constitution, forming a cabinet with anti-liberation people and helping the self-confessed killers of Bangabandhu to leave the country.

JAMUKA has decided to cancel the 'Bir Uttam' title given to Ziaur Rahman almost 50 years after independence. In recognition of his important contribution in the war of liberation, the Awami League government led by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman after independence conferred Ziaur Rahman with the title of 'Bir Uttam'.
