'Let's pledge to realize the dream of the Father of the Nation'

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has called upon all to be committed to build the golden Bangladesh, the dream of the Father of the Nation. Not a single person in Bangladesh will be hungry, will not be homeless, we will light a lamp in every one's house.

Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina made the call on Friday (March 19) at the third day of a ten-day event at the National Parade Ground marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and the golden jubilee of independence. Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa also attended the event.

She said the people of Bangladesh should have a better, prosperous life in all areas including education, health, employment, which was the dream of the father of the nation, which he had always said. Let us take that pledge on this 101st birthday of the Father of the Nation and the Golden Jubilee of Independence, we will realize the dream that the Father of the Nation. Bangladesh will be a hunger-free, poverty-free, developed, prosperous, golden Bangladesh with a non-communal spirit, a Bangladesh that will realize the dream of the Father of the Nation.

Sheikh Hasina further said that Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has dedicated his life to change the destiny of the people of Bengal. He always had a special love and responsibility towards the people of this country. His parents had always supported him. My mother has always been an inspiration to him. There was no demand. That is why Bangabandhu was able to take his struggle forward.

The Prime Minister said, "Today we have been able to develop Bangladesh as a developing country." Therefore, in this Bangladesh, today we have the opportunity to celebrate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation and the golden jubilee of independence from the government because we were elected by the people of Bangladesh. We are grateful to them.

Sheikh Hasina also thanked the foreign guests who are attending the ten-day event in Bangladesh

Describing Sri Lanka as a close friend of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh and Sri Lanka share a similar attitude on various regional and international issues and the two countries support and co-operate with each other. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa is a true friend of Bangladesh and he has always stood by Bangladesh. I also try to reciprocate that friendship. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa's participation in the celebration of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh and the golden jubilee of independence is a reflection of the friendly relations between her and the people of Sri Lanka.

On behalf of his government and the people of Bangladesh, the Prime Minister expressed her deep gratitude and thanks to the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and the people of his country and hoped that this friendly relationship between the people of the two countries would be further strengthened in the future.
