Despite the global pandemic, the world Muslim Ummah is spending the days of the holy month of Ramadan in special acts of worship in order to gain nearness to God in a religiously solemn environment.

Allah, the Almighty has made it obligatory on Muslims to fast once a year because fasting creates a kind of humility, patience, endurance in people. And man also corrects his own nafs. Fasting is not for a person who fasts in vain, lies, deceives, and makes more profit in business. Rather, fasting is just a name. Our beloved Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Whoever does not refrain from lying and acting upon it, there is no need for Allah to keep him fasting and thirsty. That is, his fasting will be considered as useless' (Bukhari, Kitabus Soum). That is, when a person becomes oblivious to the real purpose of fasting, he only fasts for himself, which is not necessary for Allah. God sees the heart of man, and for what purpose he fasts.

It is obligatory on every adult, intelligent and healthy Muslim man and woman to fast in Ramadan. Travelers and sick people have been instructed not to fast. That is, if a person is on a journey and is ill, he should not fast. Rather, after Ramadan, keep this fast before the next Ramadan and complete the calculation. Those who are permanently ill, weak and unable to fast after Ramadan, breastfeeding mothers and pregnant women for whom fasting is absolutely impossible will pay the fidia according to their capability.

The virtue and importance of fasting is mentioned in the hadith, narrated by Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA), the Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘Every good deed of Ibn Adam will be increased. Ten times to seven hundred times will be repaid. But regarding fasting, Allah says, fasting is kept for me. And I will pay for it myself. (Or I will be rewarded for it myself) because the fasting person gives up his needs and food for me. 'He (PBUH) said in another place,' If a person is fasting and he is silent, then it is an worship for him, and his sleep is also worship Will be considered. His prayers will be accepted. And the reward of his time will be increased.

Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) narrates that the Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘When Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of Hell are closed. And the devil is chained '(Bukhari). The Prophet (PBUH) explained to us that those who have entered the month of Ramadan and are fasting sincerely, a sacred change is seen in their faces, their souls become enlightened and the gates of Paradise are opened for them. And Satan is bound with chains. But if a person does not benefit from Ramadan, then this fast will be of no use to him.

We should recite Elahi, Tawba, Isteghfar and Durood Sharif much more in the holy month of Ramadan. The Prophet (PBUH) said, ‘The example of a person who does zikr al-ilahi and a person who does not do zikr is like a living and dead person’ (Bukhari, Kitab al-Dawat). It is also known from the hadith text that our beloved Prophet Karim (PBUH) used to recite Durood Sharif more than 70 times a day.

Therefore, each of us should be immersed in the meditation of Allah without wasting any time in this holy month. In addition to paying fitrana and fidyah in this holy month, more and more charity should be given. May Allah grant us all the blessings of this holy month of mercy, forgiveness and salvation from the decade of salvation, Ameen.
