Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the government will allow public transport to operate within cities from May 6 keeping half of the seats vacant ahead of eid.
He said buses can ply in the cities after disinfectant spray and maintaining 100 percent hygiene rules. Drivers and helpers will also have to maintain health safety guidelines.
Obaidul Quader said this at a view-exchange meeting with the high officials of Mymensingh Road Zone, BRTC and BRTA on Monday (May 3).
He joined the meeting through online from his official residence in the capital.
The Awami League General Secretary said BNP is the container and carrier of institutional corruption in the country although it always raises voice against corruption.
On the other hand, he said, the government of Sheikh Hasina has taken a zero tolerance policy against corruption.
Warning to the embezzlers, he said the government will take stern action if anyone misuses the cash assistance for poor and distressed people from the prime minister.
