Padma accident: Case filed against driver-owners

A case was filed with Shibchar Police Station naming four people and few others unnamed in the accident on Padma of Madaripur which claimed 26 people.

Sub-inspector of Kathalbari Naval Police Outpost Lokman Hossain filed the case against speedboat driver Shah Alam, owners-Malik Chandu and Rezaul and ghat leaseholder Shah Aalm Khan and others.

Naval Police officer-in-charge Abdur Razzak confirmed the matter to Barta24 on Tuesday (May 4) morning.

Meanwhile, injured driver Shah Alam was admitted to Shibchar Health Complex and later shifted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital on Monday evening with police guard as his condition deteriorated.

At least 26 people were killed as a speedboat hits a sand laden bulkhead near Kathalbari Ghat of Banglabazar-Shimulia water route under Shibchar upazila of Madaripur on Monday (May 3) morning.

The accident took place around 6:00 am. Members of fire service, naval police, and army jointly operating the rescue operation. They recovered all 26 bodies so far. Out of them, Three are women and one is children.
