Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has arrested husband former police officer Babul Akter, in connection with the murder of Mahmuda Khanam (Mitu) in Chattogram five years ago.
He was arrested on Tuesday (May 11) evening after questioning in the Mitu murder case.
Earlier, Babul Akhter was taken to Chattogram from Dhaka for questioning on Monday (May 10). Babul Akhter was questioned at the PBI Metro Regional Office in Pahartali area of Chittagong metropolis in the case on Tuesday (May 11). PBI Deputy Inspector General Banaj Kumar Majumder confirmed the matter.
He said Babul Akhtar had talked to those involved in the investigation of the case. It can also be called interrogation.
On the morning of June 5, 2016, Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of Babul Akter, was shot and stabbed on her way to pick up her son on a school bus on OR Nizam Road in Chattogram city. Babul Akhter filed a murder case with the Panchlaish police station. However, although Babul Akhter is the plaintiff in the case, his father-in-law Mosharraf Hossain has been alleging that Babul Akhter was involved in the murder of his wife.
