Rohingyas have been celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr in a festive mood at Bhasanchar in Noakhali.
On Friday (May 14), about 4,500 Rohingya performed Eid prayers in two congregations in Bhasanchar.
It is learned that the first Jamaat was held at 7:30 am and the second Eid Jamaat was held at 8:30 am in accordance with the health rules at Ware House No. 1. At this time the Muslim Rohingyas residing in Bhasanchar jointly performed the holy Eid-ul-Fitr prayers. In the first Jamaat, PD Bhasanchar and all the officials of Bhasanchar performed Eid prayers with the Rohingyas.
Bhasanchar police officer in charge (OC) Mahe Alam confirmed this information.
He added that a festive atmosphere has been prevailing among the Rohingyas in Bhasanchar since the morning on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Although the third Jamaat was supposed to be held, the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers were completed in the 1st and 2nd Jamaat.
OC Mahe Alam said the Eid congregations were telecast live on BTV and Somoy TV. The congregation of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr was held peacefully. No negative comments were made.
It may be mentioned that at present 18 thousand 416 Rohingyas are living in Bhasanchar Rohingya camp.
