Covishield stock 4 lakh, 18 lakh required for second dose

According to the quantity of Oxford-AstraZeneca(Covishield) corona vaccine in stock in the country, the second dose cannot be given to 100% of those who took the first dose.

97 lakh 92 thousand 130 doses of vaccine have been given till date after the start of vaccination program in the country. The receiver has been given the Covishield vaccine made by the Seram Institute of India in the Oxford-AstraZeneca formula. So far, 1 crore 2 lakh doses of vaccine have arrived in the country. Accordingly, only four lakh 7870 doses of vaccine are left.

The information came from a press release issued by the Directorate of Health on Saturday (May 22).

According to the Health Directorate, 58 lakh 19 thousand 912 people have taken the first dose of the vaccine so far. The second dose was given to 39 lakh 72 thousand 218 people. In other words, 97 lakh 92 thousand 130 doses of vaccine have been given in two doses.

According to the information sent by the Directorate of Health, the crisis has been created with the second dose of 14 lakh 39 thousand 824 people taking the first dose. All of them need to be given a second dose of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. Because, the World Health Organization has not yet made a decision on the two companies to take the two-dose vaccine.

Bangladesh started giving the second dose of Covid-19 vaccine from April 8. Earlier, the nationwide vaccination program started on February 7.
