The coronavirus vaccine invented by Chinese Synopharm will be used in the country from May 25. Confirming the matter on Saturday (May 22), Director General of Health, Prof. ABM Khurshid Alam said the five lakh doses of Synopharm received as a gift from the Chinese government will be given to medical students, nursing students and those studying as medical technologists.

The director general of health said, "I will start administering the Synopharm vaccine from May 25." We are giving this vaccine to medical students. We have already finished vaccinating our health workers including doctors and nurses. Now there are students left.

Khurshid Alam said MBBS examinations have not been conducted in medical colleges for the last one year. There is no such thing as an intern where junior doctors used to work; almost all the hospitals are empty. Now if you have to get a doctor, you have to take the stuck tests. Students must ensure vaccination before taking the test. So we are not able to give this vaccine to the general public.

He added that the vaccines will reach the medical colleges which have vaccination centers. This vaccine cannot be given at outside vaccination centers.

Earlier on May 12 (Wednesday), the Bangladesh Air Force's C-130J transport aircraft brought vaccines from China 5 lakh doses. Later that day, Chinese Ambassador to Dhaka Li Jimming formally handed over the vaccine to Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and Health Minister Zahid Maleque at the state guest house Padma.

China has announced to give another six lakh doses of Corona vaccine to Bangladesh in the second batch. The Chinese side made the announcement during a telephone conversation between Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen and Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday (May 21) evening.
