Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen said Bangladesh will organize a two-day world peace conference in next November of Mujib Year. At this time Bangabandhu Peace Prize will be conferred.

The Foreign Minister said this while addressing a discussion at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka today on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Julio Curie Medal.

Dr Momen said the conference would be organized with progressives and intellectuals working for peace around the world. The conference will discuss Bangabandhu, the pioneer of world peace and humanity. A committee has been formed in this regard.

He said Bangladesh has been established as a model of peace following the path of Bangabandhu. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is spreading the message of peace all over the world and that is the 'culture of peace'. 193 countries of the United Nations have adopted the proposal of ‘culture of peace’. Violence against each other is causing violence in the country. If we can eliminate violence and hatred, we will be able to establish lasting peace in the world. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set an example of humanity by sheltering the 11 lakh Rohingya people of Myanmar who have been forcibly displaced.

Bangabandhu has worked for peace and welfare of the people all his life. That is why he has established Bangladesh's foreign policy of "friendship with all, enmity towards none."

The Foreign Minister said the Bengali nation has been honored as much as Bangabandhu has been honored with the Julio Curie Award. He said Bangabandhu always believed in peaceful co-existence. We believe in the peaceful co-existence of the neighboring country and this is what Bangabandhu has repeatedly said.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriyar Alam delivered the address welcome in the meeting. He said that even though Bangabandhu is not there, his great ideology, Bangladesh established under his leadership, is standing tall under the leadership of his worthy daughter Sheikh Hasina. The Prime Minister has been working tirelessly for the liberation and peace of the people.

The meeting chaired by A K Abdul Momen, Lt Col (Retd) Kazi Sajjad Ali Zaheer, a researcher on the Liberation War was the key-note speaker while Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen gave the vote of thanks. Amanul Haque read out Bangabandhu's speech while receiving the Julio Curie Award.

Former Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, prominent journalist and columnist Abdul Gaffar Chowdhury and Bangladesh embassy chiefs were connected online. Besides, the chief coordinator of the Bangabandhu Birth Centenary Celebration Committee Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, President of the World Peace Council-Bangladesh section Mozaffar Hossain Paltu also spoke.
