Leaders of the Muktijoddha Sangsad Santan Command have demanded immediate arrest and trial of all those involved in inciting the murder, including Anvir, the main accused in the Mosrat Jahan Munia murder case.

The president of the organization Mehedi Hasan made this demand at a press conference at the National Press Club on Wednesday (May 26).

In a written statement at the press conference, he said Mosrat Jahan Munia was killed at his home in Gulshan-2 on April 28. Nusrat Jahan Tania, he elder sister  daughter Bir Muktijoddha, filed a case with Gulshan Police Station in this regard. The main accused is Bashundhara Group MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir.

Since the case was filed, Munia has been disgraced and her sister Tania's character has been vilified through spreading propaganda, threatening to kill the plaintiff and her family members, and threatening to withdraw the case.

Mehdi said the Bashundhara group was keen to continue the killing of Mosarat Jahan Munia as suicide from the beginning.

Munia came to Dhaka in 2016 and was admitted to Mirpur National Bangla School. At that time she stayed in the hostel for two years i.e. till 2018 and after passing SSC she got admitted in Mirpur Cantonment Public College and stayed in the hostel till about one year 2019 and stayed in sublet with two girlfriends near the college for a short while. Munia had a penchant for writing poems and songs and could speak Bengali-English fluently. Her pronunciation and accent were good.

Due to being a member of Bashundhara Group's Media Readers' Forum, she was acquainted with Naeem Nizam, editor of Bangladesh Pratidin and others concerned, and Munia went to an event based on that source. Probably from there Munia fell in love with Anvir and he took the relationship to a personal level by tempting such a little girl. When Anvir's family came to know about this, at one stage it was heard that Munia was threatened with death by calling Anvir's mother through a woman named Piasa.

Expressing concern, Mehedi said, "Usually, the police take various steps to bring the person under the law by trying to fulfill their duty whenever there is a statement." Even if he is not found, his parents, wife, family members and many suspects are arrested and interrogated. As the main accused in the Munia murder case is influential, the role of the police has created suspicion, concern and anxiety in the minds of the people which we are also witnessing. Then we will understand, the administration is hostage in their hands?

Other members of the family, including Anvir's mother, fled the country soon after Munia's murder. Munia left Dhaka after Anvir's mother had earlier threatened to kill her and after returning, her relationship with her son Anvir continued. In this case, we think that Anvir's family members may have been involved in the murder. Is it not murder, it is murder, it is confusing.

In the phone conversation between Sharmin Shahed and Munia's elder sister Tania before her death, it seems to us that Munia's death was a matter of concern, reviewing the location of the door of the room, the location of the body, the surroundings of the room and Munia's written diary. However, we think that the real truth of Munia's murder will come out if the law enforcement agencies conduct a proper and impartial investigation without being influenced by any circle. We, as citizens, are apprehensive as to whether there will be a fair trial for Munia's murder as there has been no arrest of the accused and no arrest has been made in the country or abroad.

The leaders of the organization raised five point demands in the current context and the progress of the Munia murder case.

The demands are that the main accused in the Munia murder case, Bashundhara Group MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir, should be arrested immediately and brought under the law. In the interest of a fair and impartial investigation into the Munia murder case, Anvir's mother, Piasa and his accomplice Mishu Hasan, the owner of the house, the security guard, the driver and all the suspects should be brought under the law and interrogated. All media licenses of Bashundhara Group involved in attempting to assassinate the character of plaintiff and dead Munia by abusing the media should be revoked. The land grabbers and government khas lands should be returned to the land owners. The progress of the Munia murder case should be made public through the media cell of the law enforcement agencies.
