Infection increasing in border districts, lockdown may extend further!

Lockdown or restriction may increase in the border districts due to sudden increase in corona infection.

According to the Ministry of Public Administration on Saturday (May 29), the directive may be issued on Sunday (May 30), the last day of the ongoing ban. Sources said that some new conditions may be included in the directives.

Especially in the border districts, the Indian variant of Corona has made the government worried. Therefore, strict control may be imposed on the movement of people in the border districts.

According to the Directorate of Health, the infection is increasing in the districts bordering India. In the meantime, lockdown has been given in Chapainawabganj to prevent the infection. In addition, the infection is on the rise in 14 more border districts. Public health experts have suggested effective lockdown, increased corona testing and isolation of infected people to control the infection.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that the growth rate of new corona patients in 22 districts this week was 100 percent or higher, compared to 10 to 16th May. Of these, 15 districts are bordering. In each of the nine districts, the number of identified cases per week is below fifty. These districts include Chapainawabganj, Thakurgaon, Lalmonitorhat, Kurigram, Joypurhat, Rajshahi, Meherpur, Kushtia, Jashore, Satkhira, Sunamganj, Habiganj, Jamalpur, Rangamati and Bandarban bordering India. The list also includes Natore, Gaibandha, Khulna, Pirojpur, Jhalokati, Cox's Bazaar and Narsingdi.

A "strict lockdown" has been going on across the country since April 14 to deal with the second wave of corona. The 5-point lockdown has been extended to midnight on May 30.

Bus service, launch, air and rail services were shut down during the ongoing lockdown. Later, buses and domestic routes were introduced in the city corporation area, leaving half the seats vacant. Flights have also been launched on several international routes. However, according to the new instructions, Inter-district public transport is running with half the passengers.
