Three children of a family drowned in a pond at the Baldia village under Bhurungamari upazila of Kurigram on Sunday (May 30) noon.
The deceased were identified as Shefali, 5, daughter of Apu Miah; Sadia, 5, daughter of Saddam Hossain and Jasmin, 5, daughter of Zahurul Islam.
Family sources said three cousins went to the pond nearby their house to take a bath and at one stage they drowned. After an hour later, their bodies were found floating on the pond water.
Confirming the matter, Kachakata Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mahabub Alam said police have been sent to the spot after hearing the news.
