One was killed in a gun battle with Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Tongi of Gazipur on Monday night.
Identity of the deceased could not be known till filing this report on Tuesday morning.
Rab-1 assistant police super Md Mushfiqur Rahman Tushar said a Rab team was patrolling in Tongi and Abdullapur on Monday night. Acting on a tip-off that a group of people dealing drugs beside Tongi bridge Rab team went to the spot. Seeing Rab personnel miscreants opened fire at the Rab who returned fire in self-defense, resulting in a gunfight.
After the gunfight Rab recovered the body of a drug dealer.
Rab claims they recovered one foreign pistol, two bullets, one magazine and three packet Yaba pills from the spot.
Tongi West Police Station officer-in-charge Md Shah Alam visited the spot. He said two Rab members also injured in the gunfight and the deceased was sent to Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsy.
