Johnson’s vaccine got permission for emergency use

The Johnson & Johnson vaccine, produced in Belgium, has been approved for emergency use in the country. Six coronavirus vaccines have been approved so far.

On Tuesday (June 15) Director General of the Drug Administration, Major General Mahbubur Rahman signed press release saying the vaccine has been approved.

All the vaccines approved in the country so far are in two doses. That means you have to take the second dose a few days after taking one dose. But the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is of one dose. That means one dose is enough to prevent coronavirus. Apart from that, the vaccine is also relatively cheap in price and has the advantage of preservation.

Johnson's vaccine can protect up to 78 percent.

In a statement, the Drug Administration said the Directorate of Health, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had applied to the Directorate of Drug Administration for emergency permission of Covid-19 produced in Janssen-Cilag International NV, Belgium. In view of this, the Drug Administration has approved the use of the vaccine on emergency basis (Emergency Use Authorization) from today after evaluating the clinical trial, CMC part and regulatory status. The local agent for this vaccine in Bangladesh is MNC & H, the Department of Health and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The vaccine was approved for emergency use by the World Health Organization on March 12. On February 27, the United States Department of Drug Administration and on March 11, the European Union approved Johnson's vaccine for emergency use.

The vaccine is suitable for people 18 years of age and older.
