Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said no one would launder money if there were good investment opportunities in the country.
He made the remarks in response to a question from reporters after a virtual meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs and Public Procurement on Wednesday (June 16).
Stating that 14 laws are coming to curb money laundering abroad, the finance minister said that money laundering is the characteristic of some people. We will digitally track them and bring them into the system and take action in the legal process.
"We have seen how money is laundered, we know it through various means," he said. There are many cases pending against those who have smuggled money. But if they are dealt with quickly, many will be restrained. Many are in jail; the only crime is money laundering. They are in jail because there was an anomaly in their transaction.
