Ziaur Rahman was deeply involved in the assassination of Bangabandhu, said the Information Minister and Joint General Secretary of the Awami League Dr. Hasan Mahmud.
He said BNP leaders have been constantly denying Bangabandhu's role. They try to make a villain a hero. Ziaur Rahman was practically a murderer and a traitor. He was deeply involved in the assassination of Bangabandhu. Those who do politics of this murderous party deny the role of Bangabandhu.
The Information Minister said this while addressing a discussion meeting of the National Mourning Day organized by Chittagong North District Awami League at Chittagong Theater Institute Hall on Saturday (August 14).
Urging the BNP leaders to leave the politics of murderers and traitors, he said the mask of Ziaur Rahman would be unveiled in front of the nation. I firmly believe that if a fair political course is to be introduced in Bangladesh, history and politics must be cleansed, then the politics of war criminals need to be banned. At the same time, those who underestimate the role of Bangabandhu and try to question Bangabandhu also need to stop politics in this country. Those who do politics on behalf of a murderer and traitor should not have the right to do politics.
Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that today, even after 50 years of independence, the country has achieved independence under the leadership of Bangabandhu. The role of Bangabandhu is denied in the country which has for the first time written the state of Bangladesh for the Bengalis by transforming the sleeping nation into an armed Bengali nation, it is not found in any other country in the world.
He questioned whether anyone could do politics by downplaying the role of Mahatma Gandhi in India, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah in Pakistan and George Washington in the United States. But in our country it is possible.
