He was speaking as the chief guest at a virtual program titled 'Development of Power and Energy Sector: From Bangabandhu to Sheikh Hasina' organized by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on the occasion of National Mourning Day-2021 on Monday (August 16).

At this time he recalled the war of liberation and highlighted the discrimination of Pakistanis towards Bangladesh. He said more research is needed on Bangabandhu.

Speaking as the special guest on the occasion, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said, "A solid foundation of developed Bangladesh has been laid during the rule of Bangabandhu. Depending on the spirit of the War of Liberation, he adopted a far-reaching plan for the formation of a timely modern state.  He implemented thousands of programs.”

The state minister said, ‘Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation of all time, bought the gas field; He has contributed immensely to ensure energy security by forming companies in the storage, supply and distribution of fuel oil. The Bangladesh Power Development Board was formed to generate, transmit and distribute electricity.

The state minister further said, "Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has adopted Rupakalpa-2021, Rupakalpa-2041 and delta plan for the construction of Sonar Bangla." Under her leadership, almost the entire country has come under the power sector; it has become a middle-income country; Bangladesh will be developed and prosperous before 2041. “

ABM Azad, Chairman, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation and Mohammad Hossain, Director General, Power Cell presented the keynote addresses on energy and power. The chief discussant was the former governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman.
