Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah, Mayor of Barisal City Corporation and general secretary of the metropolitan Awami League, has demanded a judicial probe into the attack on a UNO’s residence in Barishal. At the time, he said, "If I am guilty of this incident, I will resign from the party if necessary, but I will not allow any harm to the party."
At a press conference at his residence on Kalibari Road in Barishal on Saturday (August 21), he claimed his innocence and said, "I am a familiar person." People all over the country know my face. I will not run away. If you tell me, I will appear at the police station myself.
Mayor Sadiq requested the administration not to harass the employees of the city corporation in the name of the case.
He said the truth is you can't keep up. The truth will be revealed. I have no right to be in this chair if I have done wrong.
At the time, he demanded that the full video of the incident be released, not part of what happened that night. "I am the victim of a conspiracy," he added, which I have already understood. The Mayor also said that he has not received any project allocation from the ministry in the last three years. However, he claimed that Nagar Bhaban is carrying out development work with its own funds.
