Sinha was shot dead by Liaquat on the instruction of OC Pradip: Sharmin

Plaintiff Sharmin Shahriyar Ferdous testified in the court that Major (Retd.) Rashed Khan Sinha was shot dead by Inspector Liaquat Ali on the instructions of former OC Pradeep Kumar Das.

"Knowing the details of the murder from the eyewitnesses, I filed a case and presenting the same information in the learned court," she said.

The testimony of the plaintiff in the case was taken up in the Cox's Bazaar District and Sessions Judge's Court on Monday (August 23) at noon. Sharmin Shahriar is the elder sister of the deceased Major (Retd.) Sinha.

Testimony in the case will continue for three days in a row, said Faridul Alam, Public Prosecutor (PP) of the court. Out of 83 witnesses in the case, 15 including the plaintiff were summoned to testify in these three days.

The plaintiff in the case told the court that the murder was premeditated so I am demanding maximum punishment for the 15 accused.

Fifteen accused in the case, including OC Pradeep, Liaqat were present in the courtroom while testifying. Testimony will continue till August 25. On Tuesday (August 24), the lawyer of the accused Liaquat Ali, Pradeep Kumar Das and Liton Miah will cross-examine plaintiff Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous.

After taking evidence, PP Faridul Alam said that the time for taking testimony of five people including plaintiff Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous was fixed on Monday. But only the plaintiff testified. Testimony will continue for two more days on August 24 and 25. At this time 14 more witnesses are expected to testify.

It may be mentioned that on the night of July 31, 2020, Major (retired) Sinha Rashed Khan was shot dead by the police while searching a car at Shamlapur check post on Cox's Bazaar-Teknaf Marine Drive road. On December 13 of that year, Investigation of the case Senior Assistant Police Super of Rab-15 Md. Khairul Islam pressed charge sheet against OC Pradeep Kumar Das and 15 others in the murder case.
