Three bills including the Special Security Forces Bill, 2021 have been introduced in the Jatiyo Sangsad. The other two bills are the Bangladesh Legal Practitioners and Bar Council (Amendment) Bill, 2021 and the Leader of the Opposition and Deputy Leader (Honorarium and Privileges) Bill, 2021.
Among the three bills, the Special Security Forces Bill was introduced in the Jatiyo Sangsad by AQM Mozammel Haque, the Liberation War Affairs Minister in charge of the Prime Minister's Office. The other two bills were placed by Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque.
It has been proposed to repeal the existing ordinance in the Special Security Forces Bill and add some provisions to make new laws. The bill was referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs for scrutiny and report to Parliament.
The Bangladesh Legal Practitioners and Bar Council (Amendment) Bill proposes to form an ad hoc bar council if elections cannot be held on time under special circumstances. The bill also proposes to repeal the existing ordinance in this regard.
The bill was referred to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs for scrutiny and report to Parliament. The third bill was also examined and sent to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs for report to Parliament.
