Today is the 67th birthday of Sheikh Rehana, younger daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesha Mujib, younger sister of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She was born on September 13, 1955 in Tungipara, Gopalganj. She is known to the Awami League leaders and workers as 'Choto Apa'.

Sheikh Rehana, the youngest daughter of the Father of the Nation, is currently staying in London. Awami League leaders will wish her a happy birthday over the phone, party sources said. Besides, many people are wishing Sheikh Rehana a happy birthday through social media.

Early in the morning before sunrise on the mourning black day of 1975, some misguided members of the army killed Bangabandhu and his family at their residence in Dhanmondi. The assassins not only killed Bangabandhu, but also Bangabandhu's wife Bangamata Begum Fazilatunnesa Mujib, Bangabandhu's children Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and children Sheikh Russell and daughters-in-law Sultana Kamal and Rosie Jamal. Bangabandhu's two daughters Sheikh Hasina and Sheikh Rehana survived as they were out of the country.

Sheikh Rehana was in Germany with her elder sister Sheikh Hasina at that time. Sheikh Hasina's husband M Wazed Miah's workplace was in Karlsruhe, Germany. From there the two sisters later moved to India.

Sheikh Hasina returned to the country in 1981 and took the helm of the Awami League. But despite being the child of the largest political family in the country, Sheikh Rehana did not come to the forefront of active politics. However, she has cooperated with her elder sister Sheikh Hasina in every struggle of the Awami League and the struggle for the establishment of democracy and the spirit of the liberation war. This youngest daughter of Bangabandhu is playing a role behind the scenes for the welfare of the country and the nation. Sheikh Rehana has always played a role in philanthropic work.

Sheikh Rehana has three children, son Radwan Mujib Siddique, eldest daughter Tulip Siddique and youngest daughter Ajmina Siddique Rupanti. Her Husband is Professor Shafiq Ahmed Siddique. The eldest daughter, Tulip Siddique, is a Labor Party MP in the British Parliament. Son Radwan Mujib Siddique works in an international organization and is a trustee of the Awami League's Research Wing Center for Research and Information (CRI). And the youngest, Ajmina Siddique Rupanti, is the Global Risk Analysis Editor at Control Risks in London.
