The government has decided to close CNG filling stations from 6 pm to 10 pm every day to increase the supply of gas for power generation. The order will take effect from next Sunday (September 19), according to sources in the Ministry of Power and Energy.

This information was given in a press release sent by the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Wednesday (September 15) night.

It said gas supply to CNG stations would be cut off for four hours from 6 pm to 10 pm from September 19 (Sunday) to alleviate possible low-pressure situation in the gas distribution network during the daily peak hours of electricity demand.

Earlier on Monday (September 13), a press release said CNG stations would have to be closed for six hours every day from 5 pm to 11 pm. However, Petro Bangla sat down with the CNG Owners Association the next day (Tuesday) to discuss the implementation of the decision. At the meeting, the station owners proposed to keep the pump off for 3 hours from 6 pm to 9 pm.
